「story of my life」は口語的に「そういう運命だ」「いつものことだ」っていうマイナス表現で使われることがあるけど、多分この歌詞では単純に「私の人生の話」っていうそのままの意味で使われてそうな感じ。
あと、2番の「shoots and ladders」。KORNの曲名にもなってるこの言葉は、他の人が訳してるのを見ると「登ったのに梯子を外される」とか、苦心が見られる表現が多かった。アルバムの国内盤の対訳も「はしごを登ってる時に撃ち落とされる」みたいな訳し方。 けど、おそらく「chutes and ladders」のつづり違いの表現だと思われる。これは欧米のボードゲームで、「snakes and ladders（蛇と梯子）」っていう呼び名の方が一般的っぽい。「chute」はダストシュートとかパラシュートの「chute」だけど、発音が全く同じだから「shoot」と混同して(もしくは意図的に?)「shoots and ladders」っていう言葉を使ったという推測。 このゲームはすごろくみたいな感じらしいので、「蛇と梯子」って訳すよりも「すごろく」の方が和訳としてしっくり来るのでそうしました。子供向けで運任せなゲームらしいので、2番のテーマである「運」を上手く表した比喩なんだと思う。
